Virgil Van Dijk insists Liverpool have the quality to compete with Manchester City for the Premier League title, with the two heavyweights set to meet at the Etihad in the first leg on their return from international break.

Liverpool are just one point behind the champions after 12 games and will face Manchester United confidently after beating Brentford on Sunday.


Asked if Liverpool could stop Man City in the Premier League after winning three trophies, Van Dijk said:

"I hope so," he said. Today I look in the dressing room and feel that we are under 23 years old. But we still have quality.

"But we have to see, we need a little bit of luck, we do not need injuries and we need stability."
