Ms. Thorn Somavathy, a member of the Cambodian triathlon national team, expressed concern about the weather and the dangers posed by marine animals called jellyfish. Somavathy claims that Jellyfish disrupts training in preparation for the 32nd SEA Games, and that this dangerous animal could cause athletes to drop out of the competition.
Jellyfish are sea urchins that have a clear, umbrella-like head like jelly, which causes itching when touched, and can emit a very dangerous venom. The problem caused by this bubble fish, Ms. Somavathy has encountered and was injured due to touching this animal during training.
“I personally touched Jellyfish during the last training session. In other words, when we touch it, it immediately erupts, it shoots into my hand and we find it hard to resist when it’s hit […]. After touching, I swam ashore, but when I touched fresh water, it made my hands react, itch and itch. “I was sent to the emergency room just five minutes after rising from the sea.” Somavathy told the media recently in such an interview.
In addition, the 20-year-old also expressed concern over the factors caused by the bubble fish, which could lead to abandonment if encountered during the SEA Games. Somavathy says: “Training day, if we touch, we can stop immediately, a high risk that I am very upset that on the day of the game, when we touch, we may stop or may face abandonment. “Yes.”
Cambodia is preparing to host the 32nd SEA Games. Many sports that Cambodia has decided to include are being trained by athletes in each skill to increase their training to achieve better results. Like other athletes, the Cambodian national triathlon team is also training hard to prepare for the competition.
Triathlon is a sport that combines three disciplines, including swimming, cycling and running. All three types of subjects together.
Running and cycling are less challenging compared to the actual swimming training. Triathlon athletes use the same sea-swimming exercises as during the competition. But sometimes, because there are so many challenges in the sea, such as various sea creatures that can be dangerous during training, this factor pushes athletes to turn those exercises back to swimming exercises.
In fact, unfavorable weather conditions, strong waves and the jellyfish present in the sea have affected and disrupted the training for the Cambodian triathlon team.
“As a result of the daily training we face, it is at sea. Some months it rains with high winds, high waves and jellyfish. “Jellyfish, it has the biggest consequences.” This is Somavathy’s complaint.
