Chelsea news: Graham Potter has found himself come under severe pressure after a poor run of form that has seen the Blues edge closer to relegation than the Champions League.
Graham Potter’s future at Chelsea continues to be under scrutiny after a woeful run of form.
Sunday’s defeat to Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium means the Blues have managed only one win in their previous 11 matches in all competitions and two in their last 16. A run of five Premier League games without a win has left Chelsea closer to the relegation zone than the top four, placing Potter’s job security into doubt.
Despite the backing of Potter by the club’s ownership, the feeling does not seem to be the same within the fanbase. According to KingCasinoBonus, Potter is the manager that has been the victim of supporters calling for the sack on Twitter.
The statistics reveals that 41.9% of tweets mentioning Potter contained ‘#potterout’ (55,005 of 131,259) tweets. That’s almost half of the fanbase tweeting about Potter calling for the club to cut their ties with the Englishman.
In the aftermath of the difficult run of form, Potter has admitted he cannot rely on goodwill from the board forever. “I know the responsibility. Results are not good enough for this club. I’m not happy with them. I take full responsibility for those results,” he said after the defeat to Spurs.
“If results aren’t good enough, which they aren’t at the moment, you can’t rely on support forever. My job is to keep going, to try and change the moment. The players are hurting. It’s a tough moment for us.”
