Real Madrid may not have key players for El Clasico

October 9, 2023
Real Madrid have been in good form so far this season, despite their regional problems. Defend the center, though. Eder Militao's ACL injury left Carlo Ancelotti with just three center-backs left, but the situation is well under control so far. However, with Nacho Fernandez suspended and David Alaba injured, Aurelien Tchouameni took over as interim center-back against Osasuna on Saturday.

The Austrian international is expected to return after an international break with El Clasico later this month. Good news for Real Madrid. However, with Alaba set to return, Real Madrid's central defense issue does not seem to be over. Antonio Rudiger has four yellow cards this season and, as reported by the MD, he will miss El Clasico if he is booked against Sevilla within two weeks.

With Nacho already banned, that would leave Alaba as the only center-back for the trip to Montjuic, so it should come as no surprise if Ancelotti opted for a Rudiger break against Sevilla so far. Now he has time to touch Barcelona. It remains to be seen how Ancelotti will handle the situation, but the last thing Real Madrid want is to play a temporary center-back against their bitter rivals despite the disappearance of Robert Lewandowski.
