Manchester City have named just 21 players to defend their upcoming Champions League title. Pep Guardiola's side won the Champions League for the first time in their history in June after a 1-0 win over Italian giants Inter Milan. Their victory in Istanbul ended Guardiola and City's quest for the Champions League title, which the Spanishman has avoided since his arrival in Manchester.
City fans will now be hopeful after last year's success that their team can go one step further and secure a Champions League return. However, their hopes could be overshadowed by the team that lost their place in the Champions League, which was revealed on Wednesday afternoon. Guardiola has named just 21 of the 25 players who can defend the title of the most prestigious club in Europe.Sturdy stars like Erling Haaland, Kevin de Bruyne and Ruben Dias are all expected.
Man City's three summer additions, Matheus Nunes, Jeremy Doku and Josko Gvardiol, are also included. Interestingly, Guardiola has opted to leave American international Zack Steffen in favor of 38-year-old veteran Scott Carson. Carson won his second Champions League title after City won the title in June after his victory in the same competition in 2005.
