Jurgen Klopp decides to lead Germany

September 14, 2023
Germany confirmed on Sunday that they had parted ways with Hansi Flick after their shock 4-1 defeat at home to Japan.

They are so interested in Klopp that they are willing to give him a part-time job until the end of the 2023/24 season, which allows him to continue his role at Liverpool.

But speaking to Sportschau, Klopp's agent Marc Kosicke said:
"Jurgen has a long-term contract with Liverpool and will not be able to coach the national team."

Klopp's current contract at Liverpool runs until the end of the 2025/26 season and he has recently admitted that his loyalty to the club will make it difficult to leave for Germany.

Speaking to The Athletic, he said:
"The job of the national team coach is a great honor, there is no problem with that. The problem that stands in the way is my honesty. I can not just leave Liverpool now and say that I am going to lead Germany in a short time, it does not fit at all. I am responsible for the club. It's generally an interesting job, but I do not yet know if I will do something completely different after I leave Liverpool, I want to keep My options remain open. ”
