Jacques Pellet, the French Ambassador to Cambodia, is optimistic that the 2024 Paris Olympics will be an opportunity to improve French-Cambodian relations and the implementation of sports activities for children. In the same ceremony, Mr. Hang Chuon Narun, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports also said that sports have the ability to teach people to respect each other and the courage to compete for the image of the country.

The French Ambassador to Cambodia held a ceremony 500 days before the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France on the morning of March 14, 2023. The ceremony was held at the National Olympic Stadium and was presided over by Jacques Pellet and Hang Chuon Naron.

The French ambassador stated that the purpose of organizing this event was that he wanted this international event to be an opportunity to strengthen Cambodian-French friendly relations. On the other hand, it is also an opportunity to mainstream sports activities to children by incorporating solidarity, environment and a mindset that believes that everyone can play and participate in sports activities. Another important point on March 14 is the National Olympic Stadium, a sports infrastructure showing the symbol of Cambodia-France friendship. In particular, it is a reminder of the past 1966, former French President Charles De Gaulle addressed the inauguration of the Olympic Stadium.

On this occasion, Mr. Hang Chuon Naron also said with pleasure that this is an opportunity for him to join the appreciation of high-level athletes, professional athletes and other athletes. The Minister of Education believes that sports activities are important for educating young people and all citizens.

“Although today’s event is not competitive, I still want to talk about the spirit of respect for one’s competitors, hard work, self-achievement, courage and passion. This is a value not only in the arena but also in all societies of all ages and in all individuals. “Sports have the priceless ability to teach and raise morale.” Mr. Hang Chuon Narun said so.

The 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris will be the largest ever in France. This event will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
