Eden Hazard to appear for France in France

October 3, 2023

According to L’Équipe, despite becoming a free agent, Eden Hazard will return to football soon. This time for good reason. The former Belgium international will play for the Variétés Club de France. The former Chelsea striker has been a free agent since his contract with Real Madrid expired in June. The former Lille player will return to the north of France to play in a charity match on October 18 at the Stade de L’Épopée in Calais.

In a charity event, the competition will take place in front of 12,000 spectators. Hazard will be on the field with the stars of the French game, including Les Bleus coach Didier Deschamps, Laurent Blanc and former teammates. Featuring Lille Mathieu Debuchy and Yohan Cabaye. The 32-year-old has received offers from clubs across the continent over the summer, including Marseille and former club Lille, but has turned down any offers he has received.

Subsequent rejections of a possible transfer have led to reports that the former Madrid winger is set to retire. However, without an official announcement, Hazard's future in professional competition remains unknown.
