Cambodia hosts Malaysia, hosts Singapore host Hong Kong for Merlion Cup

The Cambodian U22 national football team, which is preparing for the 2023 SEA Games, will face Malaysia in the 2023 Merlion Cup in Singapore. Hosts Singapore face Hong Kong

After the draw for the Merlion Cup 2023 U22s, the Cambodian team will play Malaysia on March 24 at 4pm [Cambodian time] before the Singapore-Hong Kong match at 7.30pm. Same.

The Merlion Cup has been suspended for three years after the last match in 2019. The Merlion Cup, a Singapore initiative, was first established in 1982 and continued to compete every year until 1986. The 6th competition was held in 1992 and the 7th and 8th competitions were held in 2009 and 2019. Hosted eight times, the host Singapore won the title only once in 2019.

Australia won the Merlion Cup twice as much in 1992-1993. Iraq (1984), Yugoslavia (1985), China (1986), South Korea, South Korea (1992), and Liverpool (2009).

In 2023, Singapore has invited the U23 teams of Cambodia, Malaysia and Hong Kong to compete for the Merlion Cup. Since there are 4 teams, the team that wins the first match will advance to the final and the losing team will compete for the third place.

The 2023 Merlion Cup kicks off on March 24-26 in Singapore using only the Jalan Besar Stadium.

For Cambodia, the Merlion Cup 2023 is part of a series to test players who are training to prepare for medals at the 2023 SEA Games.
