SEA Games: 8,000 athletes to compete for medals in 36 sports on 584 events in Cambodia

8,000 athletes will be present at the 32nd SEA Games 2023 in Cambodia. The 8,000 athletes will compete for medals in 36 sports out of a total of 584 disciplines.

In the program of the Conference on Education, Youth and Sports on April 10, Mr. Ouk Sithicheat, Director General of the General Department of Sports of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports announced the total number of athletes who will compete in the Southeast Asian Games. Which Cambodia received the right to organize for the first time.

Of the 11 participating countries, including the host country, Cambodia, a total of 8,000 athletes competed in 36 sports in 584 disciplines. Taqball, a five-discipline sport, will also be present at the 2023 SEA Games, but only as a show sport, with no medals awarded.

Last week, the National Organizing Committee of the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (CAMSOC) announced a total of 12,404 delegates from 11 countries to compete for medals at the 32nd SEA Games 2023. Of the 11 countries, Thailand sent the largest number of sports delegates in 1985, followed by Indonesia with 1,802 and the host Cambodia in seventh place with 1,158.

The 32nd SEA Games 2023 will officially start on May 5 and end on May 17. As of April 10, Cambodia has only 25 days left to go to this historic event.
