Mikel Arteta: Arsenal deserve better results than Aston Villa

December 11, 2023
John McGinn's early half-time goal put Villa on a deserved victory, although the Gunners were likely to draw the same draw as they did when Kai Havertz scored.

Referee Jarred Gillett immediately blew the whistle for a free kick for Villa, with the ball touching Havertz's hand before the end of the goal.

FA rules state that it is an offense if a player scores immediately after the ball touches his hand, even in the danger zone.

Speaking after the match, Arteta, who was suspended from a suspended venue at Villa Park, told Sky Sports:

"I do not want to comment. "I'm very disappointed with the result, especially with the way we play. I think we deserve more than we have. I think we are a better team.
"It is not enough to win it because we lack accuracy in the opponent's box."
